About Proposition 1
For influence analysis, Idaho's 2024 Proposition 1 should be described precisely.
From Idaho Prop 1 would have abolished party primaries, shifting candidate advancement from party electorates to one all-voter top-four primary (2026-09-16). Recorded status: OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION VERIFIED. Structural effect: party primaries abolished; all voters choose top four; RCV only in general. Republican-exclusive nomination gatekeeping would end. Sponsor/funder motive remains unproven without additional evidence. This sourced excerpt establishes the research context; it is not a completed biography or identity determination.
More from the published research
Idaho's official ballot summary states Proposition 1 would have abolished party primaries, replaced them with a single top-four primary in which all voters could vote on all candidates, and allowed candidates to list an affiliation without representing or even being associated with that party.
By contrast, in Idaho's 2024 Proposition 1 campaign, Idahoans for Open Primaries supported an open-primary plus ranked-choice general-election system, and Way Back PAC contributed $250,000 directly to that campaign; Way Back later formally listed Western Futures Fund as its connected organization, and WFF had a documented financial relationship with Way Back.
