Hopewell’s Unite America grants carry broad advocacy purpose, not an Idaho/Prop 1 earmark
Recorded status: Verified from Hopewell primary Schedule I for Unite America and IRS-derived Article IV funding data. Institutional funding established; Idaho earmarking remains unsupported.

Hopewell Fund’s primary Schedule I records strengthen the no-pass-through firewall in Glenneda’s article. Hopewell’s 2022 Form 990 Schedule I lists an $850,000 cash grant to Unite America Institute with the broad purpose "Civil rights, social action, advocacy." Its 2023 Schedule I lists another $500,000 to Unite America Institute with the same broad purpose. Hopewell’s 2022 grant to Article IV is reported at approximately $433,108; public IRS-derived records identify the relationship but no Idaho/Proposition-1 earmark has been located. The broad grant-purpose labeling does not identify Idaho, Idahoans for Open Primaries, Proposition 1, Reclaim Idaho, Way Back PAC or any specific state campaign. Therefore the records establish institutional funding relationships but do not provide evidence that Hopewell’s grant dollars were designated for Idaho’s 2024 Proposition 1 campaign. The temporal and organizational connection may be described; same-dollar tracing may not.
