A source-conflict check materially narrows how the Way Back→Toolbox branch should be described. Inside Elections' August 2026 investigation characterizes a Way Back donor called 'Toolbox' as the family foundation of former Bain Capital managing director Mark Nunnelly and Denise Dupré. However, the IRS Form 8872-derived organization actually documented in the IdahoCabal record as a major Way Back funder is Toolbox, EIN 88-3259830, an Arlington, Virginia Section 527 political organization formed in 2022. Its self-reported IRS disclosures identify Jay R. Halfon as president and Pamela Gilbert as treasurer/secretary; ProPublica's aggregation reports roughly $11M all-time contributions, $9.4M expenditures and approximately $1.17M in expenditures to Way Back PAC, making Way Back its largest reported recipient. Its top aggregated contributors are Liam Drury-Wang, Peter Gill Case and Clayton Rockefeller. The page does not identify Nunnelly or Dupré in its displayed leadership/top-contributor data. Separately, reliable institutional biographies identify Mark Nunnelly as chairman of Toolbox Holdings & Foundation, a Boston-based family office/foundation, and identify Denise Dupré as his spouse. These records establish that two publicly described entities use the 'Toolbox' name, but they do not establish that the Arlington 527 and the Nunnelly/Dupré family office/foundation are legally the same entity, affiliated entities, or that Nunnelly/Dupré fund or control the 527. Accordingly, the Inside Elections identification should be treated as a reported claim requiring underlying documentation, not imported as a verified identity. This is especially important because the 527's disclosed legal form, EIN, address and officers are concrete identifiers. Continue using EIN 88-3259830 when referring to the verified Way Back donor unless documentary evidence establishes a relationship to Toolbox Holdings/Foundation.
