Blue Moon Strategies is the operating bridge between Western Futures Fund and Way Back PAC
Recorded status: Verified common upstream operator and formal grantee-monitoring structure; Idaho candidate selection and expenditure control unproven
This is a dated research record. Its qualifications and open questions are part of the account. Association alone does not establish wrongdoing or control.
Western Futures Fund’s FY2024 Form 990 Schedule O states that, as management consultant, Blue Moon Strategies is responsible for Western Futures’ day-to-day operations. The filing also says Western Futures had no employees in 2024 and reports $675,134 in project-management expenses. Its Schedule I describes a grant-monitoring system using written and verbal reports, ongoing monitoring and interaction with grantees, and regular updates depending on grant size and term. Because Way Back PAC was a Western Futures grantee, that policy makes grant reports and communications between the organizations a specific evidentiary target, although it does not prove what communications occurred in Way Back’s case. Separately, Way Back’s federal reports show recurring payments to Blue Moon Strategies—$9,000 over three payments in an earlier 2026 filing and $26,565 over five payments in the April 1–June 3 filing—while older FEC history identifies Blue Moon principal Jonah Meyers as Way Back’s designated agent/treasurer during its formation period. Blue Moon is therefore the disclosed day-to-day operator of the 501(c)(4) that capitalized Way Back and a recurring operational vendor to Way Back itself. This substantially centralizes the upstream network around a single Washington-area consultancy. It does not yet show that Blue Moon, Meyers, Western Futures, or Way Back selected Idaho candidates, approved Redbird/Targeted Platform ads, or coordinated with Idaho recipient PACs.
