Contours' WFF grant acceptance and a $125K WFF→Way Back receipt occurred four days apart in April 2025, but the grant was explicitly non-earmarked
Recorded status: PRIMARY-DOCUMENT TIMELINE VERIFIED; same-dollar tracing explicitly NOT established. Preserve as temporal/cash-flow lead only.
This is a dated research record. Its qualifications and open questions are part of the account. Association alone does not establish wrongdoing or control.
A transaction-level timeline can now be fixed without attributing the same dollars. Contours' grant letter to Western Futures is dated April 24, 2025 and says the $350,000 general-support funding would be delivered only after Contours received the WFF acknowledgment. Kelly Poduch signed that acknowledgment for WFF on April 25. Four days later, on April 29, Way Back PAC's primary FEC Schedule A reports a $125,000 receipt from Western Futures Fund. The temporal proximity is factual and potentially useful for reconstructing WFF cash flows. However, the Contours letter expressly says the grant is general support, is not earmarked for any specific WFF activity, and that any subsequent transfer by WFF to another organization is at WFF's determination without Contours direction. The grant letter also does not reveal the actual bank-transfer date of Contours' $350K. Therefore no same-dollar or Contours→Way Back pass-through claim is supported. The evidence instead shows that WFF had discretion over downstream transfers during a period when it was receiving new general-support commitments and financially supporting its connected PAC.
