The retrospective alignment pass identifies a second concrete policy fault line: school choice. The Idaho Republican Party platform adopted June 15, 2024 states that parental choice should be maximized through money following students to the parent's school of choice and expressly includes private/parochial schools and education savings accounts. In the 2025 House vote on HB 93, which created the Idaho parental choice tax credit, Republicans Ben Fuhriman, Rod Furniss, Rick Cheatum, Stephanie Mickelsen and Lori McCann all voted no. Current 2026 election reporting shows Idaho Prosperity Fund among the independent-expenditure supporters of Fuhriman and Furniss; IPF separately endorsed McCann in her Senate race. Fuhriman and Furniss were also supported by Idaho Dairy Industry PAC and Defend and Protect/Hometown Heroes-type networks. Stephanie Mickelsen, while not shown in the cited East Idaho News report as an IPF-supported candidate, received support from Defend and Protect Idaho, Idaho Dairy Industry PAC and Hometown Heroes and later became a plaintiff challenging HB 93, arguing public tax dollars should not finance private/religious education. On the opposite side, Citizens Alliance of Idaho supported candidates such as , , and whose incumbent opponents had voted against HB 93; Idaho Education News reported that all incumbent candidates supported by Citizens Alliance had voted for HB 93 while all incumbent opponents had voted against it. The significance is not that /IPF is proven to oppose school choice as an organization—its own position on HB 93 still needs direct documentation—but that the business/ag/PAC coalition repeatedly supported multiple Republican candidates whose concrete HB 93 votes diverged from a stated Idaho GOP platform plank. This should be tested against other issues to determine whether the same candidate cluster recurs and whether the relevant business groups have identifiable economic/policy interests in those outcomes.
