Hometown Heroes routes Way Back and Idaho PAC money; a $30K Way Back receipt discrepancy remains unresolved
Recorded status: RECONCILIATION UPGRADE: Primary FEC reproduces $175K Way Back→Hometown Heroes through 6/30/26, while previously captured Idaho Sunshine shows $205K. Preserve the unresolved $30K delta; do not silently choose one total. Officer identity still unresolved.
This is a dated research record. Its qualifications and open questions are part of the account. Association alone does not establish wrongdoing or control.
Hometown Heroes remains a major Idaho money-routing and independent-expenditure node, but transaction-level reconciliation now exposes a specific $30,000 discrepancy that should be preserved rather than smoothed over. The Idaho Secretary of State Sunshine profile previously reproduced in this research shows $205,000 in contributions from Way Back PAC to Hometown Heroes. Primary Way Back FEC Schedule B records directly reproduce only $175,000 through June 30, 2026: $50,000 on Feb. 20, 2025 (transaction 501239185), $25,000 on Mar. 12, 2025 (501244181), and a separate $100,000 payment in the Apr. 1–Jun. 3, 2026 filing. Way Back's H2-2025 payee table, Q1-2026 payee table, and June 4–30 Q2 payee table do not show an additional Hometown Heroes payment. Therefore the state-side $205,000 figure exceeds the presently reproduced federal disbursements by $30,000. Possible explanations include a payment outside the reproduced filing periods, an amended/recipient-side state transaction not yet matched to the federal record, timing/reporting differences, or a state-side data issue; none should be assumed without the row. Separately, current Idaho aggregation reports Hometown Heroes at about $387,820 in contributions and $381,720 in expenditures, and contemporaneous Idaho reporting says it spent over $150,000 supporting legislative candidates, contributed more than $65,000 to Defend and Protect Idaho, and sent $45,000 to Idaho First. The organization therefore remains an important Idaho intermediary, but the exact Way Back cumulative amount should now be reported as: $175,000 primary-FEC reproduced through June 30, 2026; $205,000 shown on the previously captured Idaho Sunshine recipient profile; $30,000 difference unresolved. Current legal officer/treasurer identity also remains unresolved from a primary registration record. No evidence establishes that Way Back or an upstream funder selected Hometown Heroes' individual candidate targets or dictated its onward transfers.
